ANCESTRY: 1. Family descent or lineage 2. Ancestors collectively

ANCESTRAL: Of or inherited from an ancestor or ancestors

ANCESTRAL FILE: A computerized file of individual and family records, created from records and pedigree charts submitted to the Family History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1979. The purpose of the Ancestral File is to help people coordinate their research.

ANTE: Latin prefix meaning before, such as in ante-bellum South, "The South before the war"

APG:Association of Professional Genealogists, P.O. Box 40393, Denver, CO 80204-0393, USA. APG members promote genealogy as a profession and encourage professionalism in genealogy. They also conduct research or serve in related fields such as librarians, archivists, writers, editors, consultants, indexers, instructors, lecturers, booksellers, publishers, computer specialists and geneticists.

APGI: Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland:
c/o The Genealogical Office, 2 Kildare Street, Dublin 2, Ireland. A formal body recognizing the credentials of professional genealogists in Ireland.

APPRENTICE:One who is bound by indentures or by legal agreement or by any means to serve another person for a certain time, with a view of learning an art or trade.

APPURTENANCE: That which belongs to something else such as a building, orchard, right of  way, etc.

ARCHIVES: Records of a government, organization, institution; the place where  records are stored.

ASCENDANT:Ancestor

ASGRA: Association of Scottish Genealogists and Record Agents:

The Founding Tribes of Italy:
   If you descend from  Italy cross check your family history and the region they are from. This should give you a good indication of what tribe your family descends from. 
Bruttii

Reigned 1066-1087.
Duke of Normandy 1035-1087. Invaded England defeated and killed his rival Harold at the Battle of Hastings and became King. The Norman conquest of England was completed by 1072 aided by the establishment of feaudalism under which his followers were granted land in return for pledges of service and loyalty. As King William was noted for his efficient if harsh rule. His administration relied upon Norman and other foreign personnel especially Lanfranc Archbishop of Canterbury. In 1085 started Domesday Book.
